Alibi (“we”, “our”, or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what the Alibi mobile application collects, why, and what we do not collect.
In short: Alibi has no accounts, shows no ads, and contains no advertising or tracking SDKs. It asks for no device permissions at all. We store your game progress against a random anonymous ID so you don’t lose it, and we record a small set of gameplay events so we can see where players get stuck.
- No account, no adsYour progress is saved against a random anonymous ID.
- No device permissionsAlibi never asks for your camera, photos, contacts or location.
- A small set of game eventsTo see where players get stuck. Your typed answers never leave your device.
- Delete anytimeEmail us and everything tied to your ID is deleted within 30 days.
1No Account, No Personal Identity
You never create an account to play Alibi. We do not ask for and do not collect your name, email address, phone number, postal address, date of birth, or any social login.
The first time you open the app, our backend creates an anonymous identifier — a random ID that is not derived from your device, not shared with any other app, and not linked to your identity. It exists solely so your progress can be saved and restored.
2What We Store Against That Anonymous ID
- Game progress — which case you are playing, whether you have unlocked the in-story phone, which clues you have discovered, whether each question was answered correctly or incorrectly, how many hints you have revealed, and when a case was solved.
- Your language preference — English, Turkish or French.
- Your drawn signature and badge number — during onboarding you sign a fictional “Detective’s Oath” with your finger. The shape you draw is saved as a set of drawing coordinates, together with the badge number the game assigns you. This is decorative game content, not a legal signature, but it is something you created, so we disclose it explicitly.
- Subscription status — whether an active subscription exists.
3Gameplay Analytics
So we can understand where players lose interest and improve the cases, we record a fixed, limited set of events against your anonymous ID. The complete list is:
- app opened; onboarding completed
- case opened; briefing finished; in-story phone unlocked
- clue found; question answered (correct or incorrect only); hint used; case solved
- rating prompt shown; paywall viewed; subscription started
Each event may carry the case, clue or question it relates to, and the time it happened. There is no other analytics collection in the app.
Your typed answers are never sent to us. When you type an answer to a case, the app checks it on your device and transmits only whether it was correct or incorrect — never the text you wrote.
4What We Deliberately Do Not Collect
- No name, email, phone number or postal address
- No advertising identifier (IDFA/AAID), no cross-app or cross-site tracking, and no App Tracking Transparency prompt because there is nothing to track
- No device permissions whatsoever — Alibi never requests access to your camera, microphone, photo library, contacts, location or notifications. Every photo, message and contact you see inside the game is fictional content we wrote and shipped with the app; none of it comes from your real device.
- No payment card, bank or billing details
- No advertising networks, no third-party analytics brokers, no crash-reporting SDK
5Information Collected Automatically by Our Provider
Our backend provider records your IP address and your device’s user-agent string when the app connects, as a standard security and abuse-prevention measure. This happens at the infrastructure level rather than in the app itself, and we do not use it to profile or identify you.
6Purchases & Subscriptions
Alibi offers an optional auto-renewing subscription, purchased through Apple In-App Purchase. Subscription entitlements are managed for us by RevenueCat.
- All payments are handled by Apple. We never receive, see or store your card number, bank details or billing address.
- We receive only the purchase status — for example, whether a subscription is currently active and when it expires — tied to your anonymous ID, so the app can unlock the cases you paid for.
7Third-Party Services
Alibi relies on a deliberately small number of third parties:
- Supabase — hosts our database and anonymous authentication (privacy policy)
- RevenueCat — manages subscription entitlements
- Apple — processes payments through In-App Purchase, and displays the system rating prompt if the app asks for one
There are no others. No advertising or data-broker services are used.
8Where Your Data Is Stored
Data is stored on servers in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany). If you use the app from outside the EU, your data is transferred to and processed there.
9How Long We Keep It
Progress is kept for as long as it is needed to provide the service — that is, so you can continue a case you started.
An automated job runs daily and permanently deletes anonymous IDs that were created more than 30 days ago and that have no saved progress and no subscription. To be clear about what this does not do: if you have started even one case, your record is not covered by that automatic cleanup and is kept until you ask us to delete it.
10Your Choices and Deleting Your Data
- Reset progress in the app — Alibi’s own Settings screen can clear your progress on the device. Note that this clears the copy on your phone; it does not by itself remove the copy stored on our servers.
- Request full deletion — email syhnserkan@gmail.com and we will delete all data associated with your anonymous ID within 30 days. Because there is no account, we may need you to send the request from the device in question or provide the identifier shown in the app so we can find the right record.
- Delete the app — this removes everything stored on your device. Be aware that the anonymous ID is stored on the device too, so uninstalling means the progress saved on our servers can no longer be matched back to you or restored.
11Data Security
All connections use encrypted transport (HTTPS). Database access is restricted per user at the database level, so one anonymous ID can only read and write its own rows. Subscription status is write-protected against the app entirely — it can only be set by our payment provider’s verified server, never by a device.
No online service can guarantee absolute security, and we do not claim to.
12Children’s Privacy
Alibi is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. The app tells fictional mystery stories written for an adult audience. If you believe a child has used the app and you would like their data removed, please contact us.
13Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete the data we hold, and to object to or restrict its processing. Because we hold no identifying information about you, exercising these rights requires the anonymous identifier described above. Contact us and we will help.
14Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Effective Date” at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
