This Privacy Policy explains what the Doseline mobile application does with your information. It is short, because the app does very little with it.
In short: Doseline has no account, no server, and no analytics. Everything you record — your doses, weight, measurements, side effects, protein and water, and your settings — is stored on your device and is never transmitted to us or to anyone else. There is nowhere for us to send it: the app contains no networking code and makes no requests to any server, ours or otherwise.
- No account, no serverOnly an App Store receipt is checked, and only if you buy Pro.
- Health data stays on your deviceDoses, weight and symptoms are never sent to us or anyone else.
- No analytics or trackingNo analytics, advertising or crash-reporting SDKs of any kind.
- Export and erase anytimeCSV export is free, and one action in Settings deletes everything.
1No Account, No Server
You never create an account to use Doseline. There is no sign-up, no email address, no password and no social login.
There is also no backend. Doseline is not a client for a service we operate — it is a self-contained app. We do not receive your health data, we cannot look it up, and we could not produce it if we were asked to.
One narrow exception is worth naming here rather than burying: if you buy or restore a Doseline Pro subscription, the App Store receipt for that purchase is checked with Apple and with RevenueCat, the service that verifies it, under an anonymous identifier RevenueCat generates itself. That receipt is the only thing that ever leaves your device. Section 8 sets out exactly what it contains and what it does not.
2What the App Stores, and Where
Everything you enter is written to a database inside the app’s own private storage on your device. That includes:
- Doses — the medication, the amount in milligrams, the date and time, the injection or dosing site, any note you write, and the reason you selected if a dose changed.
- Weight entries and an optional goal weight.
- Body measurements — the tape figures you record, by site and by date.
- Side effects — the symptoms you log, their severity, and when you logged them.
- Protein and water — the amounts you count, by day.
- How the day went — the single five-point entry you can record for a day, if you record one.
- Daily step totals, if you import them from Apple Health — one total per day, never the underlying samples.
- Progress photos, if you take any. These are image files in Doseline’s own private folder, not in your photo library, and they can be put behind Face ID. They are never uploaded and nothing outside the app can read them.
- Supply — the pens or vials you have started, their strength, and when you opened them.
- Your profile and settings — the medication you are on, your dosing interval and reminder time, your units, your symptom watchlist, and your language choice.
Other apps on your device cannot read this storage, and it is removed by iOS when you delete the app.
3Health Information
Most of what Doseline stores is health information about you, and it is treated as such: it stays on your device. We do not collect it, do not process it, do not analyse it, do not profile you with it, and do not sell or share it with anyone — including advertisers, data brokers, insurers, employers, or pharmaceutical companies.
Doseline can read from Apple Health, and only if you turn it on and grant the permission iOS asks for. It reads four things — body weight, protein, water, and your daily step count — so that what you already logged elsewhere does not have to be typed twice. It never writes to Apple Health, it reads nothing else, and it reads nothing at all until you ask it to.
What is imported is copied into Doseline’s own database on your device and is treated exactly like an entry you typed: editable, deletable, and never sent anywhere. You can withdraw the permission at any time in the Health app, and the rest of Doseline works unchanged if you never grant it.
4Device Backups
Doseline’s database lives in the app’s Documents storage, which means it is included in your device’s own backup if you have one turned on — an iCloud Backup, or an encrypted backup to a computer. This is worth stating plainly because it is the one way a copy of your record leaves your phone.
That backup is made by Apple’s software under your control, not by Doseline. It is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy, we have no access to it, and you can turn it off or exclude the app in your device settings. Note that this is a backup and not a sync: Doseline does not share your record between your devices, and there is currently no such feature.
Files you create with Export are written to the app’s temporary cache directory, which iOS excludes from backups, and are cleared afterwards.
5Reminders and Notifications
Doseline can remind you when a dose is due and warn you when a container is running low. If you allow notifications, these are scheduled locally on your device by iOS from your own dose history.
There is no push server, no push token, and nothing is sent anywhere to make a reminder appear. If you decline the notification permission, the rest of the app works exactly as before.
6Exporting and Sharing
Doseline can produce a PDF summary for a clinician and CSV files of your records. Nothing is exported unless you ask for it. The files are written to temporary storage on your device and handed to the standard iOS share sheet.
What happens next is entirely your choice — you decide whether to email it, message it, save it to Files, or print it. Once you send a file somewhere, that destination’s own privacy policy applies to it, and we have no involvement in or knowledge of where it went.
7What We Deliberately Do Not Collect
Doseline does not collect, and does not ask for, any of the following:
- Your name, email address, phone number, postal address, or date of birth
- Your location, at any precision
- Your contacts, calendar, photo library, or microphone
- The advertising identifier (IDFA), and the App Tracking Transparency prompt is therefore never shown
- Device identifiers, IP addresses, or any usage or diagnostic telemetry
- Screen views, taps, sessions, funnels, or any other behavioural analytics
Every permission the app can ask for is optional, is asked for only when you use the feature that needs it, and can be withdrawn afterwards in iOS Settings. There are four: notifications, for dose reminders; Apple Health, read-only, for the import described in section 3; the camera, if you take a progress photo; and Face ID, if you choose to lock those photos. Decline all four and the rest of the app works.
Doseline contains no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, no crash reporter, and no tracking library of any kind. Nothing in the app reports what you do with it.
8Third-Party Services
Two companies are involved in your use of the app besides you: Apple, in the ordinary ways, and RevenueCat, which exists solely to check whether a Doseline Pro subscription is active.
- The App Store handles the download and any future purchase. Apple may tell us aggregate, anonymous figures such as download and crash counts. These come from Apple and cannot identify you.
- The rating prompt. After you have used the app for a while, iOS may show Apple’s standard "rate this app" sheet. The app asks iOS to consider showing it and sends no data with the request; whatever you write in a review goes to Apple, not to us.
- RevenueCat verifies subscription purchases. When you buy or restore Doseline Pro, the App Store receipt for that purchase and an anonymous identifier that RevenueCat itself generates are sent to its servers, which tell the app whether Pro is active. That is the only thing that ever leaves your device, and it is sent only if you make or restore a purchase. No dose, weight, measurement, symptom, photo, note or any other health information is sent to RevenueCat or to anyone else — it is not linked to your record, and we do not give RevenueCat your name or email address because we do not have them. RevenueCat’s handling of that receipt is governed by its own privacy policy.
Purchases themselves are processed by Apple. We never see your payment details, and we cannot identify you from a purchase.
9Children's Privacy
Doseline is not intended for children under 13, and is rated accordingly on the App Store. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone — of any age — because the app collects nothing.
10Your Data Is Yours
You are in direct control of everything the app holds, without asking us for anything:
- Get it out. Export CSV files of every record at any time, free of charge. This is deliberately not behind a paid tier — a record you cannot get out of an app is not really yours.
- Correct it. Every record can be edited or backdated. Nothing is fixed once saved.
- Erase it. Settings contains an option that permanently deletes everything the app has stored.
- Delete the app. That removes its storage from your device with it.
11Security
Your record is protected by your device: iOS file protection, together with your passcode, Face ID or Touch ID. Because there is no server holding a copy, there is no database of ours that can be breached and no employee of ours who can read your treatment history.
The corollary is honest and worth saying: the security of your record is effectively the security of your phone. Use a passcode, and keep your device software up to date.
12Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA to access, correct, export, or delete personal data a company holds about you, and not to have it sold.
We hold none, so there is nothing for us to disclose, sell, or delete. Those rights are satisfied directly in the app: your data is already in your possession, editing is built into every screen, export to CSV is free, and erasure is a single action in Settings. We have never sold personal information and have none to sell.
13Changes to This Privacy Policy
If the app changes in a way that affects this document — for example if optional syncing between your own devices is ever added — this policy will be updated before that feature ships, and the "Effective Date" above will change.
